This bright purple cocktail sparkles with magic, just like a real witch’s potion! It makes a great drink for scary movie nights and Halloween parties.

A scientific flask that's filled with a sparkling purple liquid sits on a black background. Smoke is rising out of the top.

It seems everyone loves a Halloween themed cocktail – I know I do! Nothing helps set the mood faster than a few spooky drinks at a Halloween movie night or get-together.

This “witches brew” has been a favorite of mine for several years now. Despite its creepy look, this cocktail is actually quite light and sweet.

It can be served several different ways. I like serving mine in scientific flasks to really sell the “potion” vibe. You can also use highball glasses and garnish with monster tentacles or eyeballs. Gummy worms are a great choice too.

A highball glass is filled with a sparkling purple witches brew and is topped with a plastic eyeball and green sea monster arm.

I’ll include instructions to make a large batch that you can serve in a punch bowl or cauldron. That way you’ll be free to mingle with the ghouls and goblins at your party instead of being on potion duty.

If you’re looking for other things to serve check out our list of halloween appetizers and halloween no-bake desserts.

Ingredients

A bottle of Sprite, a small jar of purple prism powder, a bottle of peach liqueur, and a bottle of raspberry vodka sit on a black background.
  • Vodka – I recommend using a raspberry vodka, though you can substitute any flavor you’d prefer.
  • Fruit Liqueur – I use a peach liqueur because it pairs well with the raspberry vodka. Feel free to choose another fruit flavor.
  • Sprite – For simplicity, I used Sprite in this drink. You can substitute club soda and simple syrup if you don’t want to use a soft drink.
  • Prism Powder – This is what gives our cocktail it’s sparkling purple appearance. I used this one from Fancy Sprinkles.

Other Things You’ll Need

  1. Glasses – I like to use scientific flasks or beakers.
  2. Garnishes – I purchased these plastic eyeballs and tentacle arms to use in my drink. There are plenty of other things you could use –  like monster hands and candy eyeballs. Feel free to get creative!

Tips

  1. Prepare cocktails in scientific flasks ahead of time and place on ice on a serving table at your party. Place a mini fog machine nearby to give a smoky potion effect.
  2. To make a non-alcoholic version, use white grape juice and Simply peach juice in place of the vodka and peach liqueur. The prism powder will work all the same.
  3. Club soda and an ounce or so of simple syrup works well in place of the lemon-lime soda.

Big Batch

Witches brew is really easy to make in large batches. I like to do this for parties and serve it in a cauldron with a ladle. Just use the ingredient amounts below.

  • 20 ounces raspberry vodka
  • 10 ounces peach liqueur
  • 40 ounces Sprite
  • 2 teaspoons purple prism powder

Make sure to add the Sprite right before serving so everything stays nice and fizzy. Float a few plastic eyeballs or gummy worms in the bowl right before guests arrive for the full effect.

I made this for a themed party. It turned out great. My guests really loved the *pizzazz* the dry ice added. Thanks for the recipe.
