Looking for a new wing flavor to try? Check out these delicious, crispy chicken wings covered in a sweet & spicy glaze with old bay seasoning.

If seafood comes to mind when you think of Old Bay, this chicken wing recipe is going to expand your horizons.
It takes crispy, fried wings and coats them in a thick, sweet and spicy hot honey glaze that’s generously seasoned with Old Bay. As it turns out, the beloved Maryland seasoning blend is excellent on chicken!
While adding hot honey to the flavor combination may sound a bit different, trust me when I say you’re going to crave it forever after just one bite!
I highly recommend serving these wings with my copycat Raising Cane’s Bread or these delicious beer battered cajun fries.
Ingredients
- Chicken Wings – I use party wings and drumettes, but you can use full-size wings as well.
- Old Bay – Obviously, you’ll need some Old Bay to season the wings and the glaze.
- Honey – I use Mike’s Hot Honey. Try the extra hot version for more heat or regular honey for no heat.
- Butter – I recommend using unsalted butter for the glaze.
- Hot Sauce (optional) – For extra heat, add a hot sauce. I like Heartbeat.
- Oil – I like to use peanut oil, but canola oil is budget-friendly and also works well. What vessel you’re using for frying will determine how much you need. A deep fryer will require more, while a large skillet or pot will need less.
Tips
- You can bake or air fry the wings instead of deep frying them, then prepare the sauce according to the recipe instructions.
- Don’t like spicy food? Use regular honey in place of the hot honey for a sweet treat without the heat.
- For the crispiest chicken wings, be sure to pat them off thoroughly with paper towels and leave them uncovered on a baking tray in the fridge for a few hours.
If you like these chicken wings, I know you’ll love this honey lemon pepper version. It’s the most requested flavor at my house!

Hot Honey Old Bay Wings
Ingredients
Wings
- 2 lbs Chicken Wings
- 1 tablespoon Old Bay
- Peanut or Canola Oil*
Glaze
- 1/4 cup Hot Honey
- 1.5 tablespoons Butter
- 1 tablespoon Hot Sauce, optional
- 1/2 tablespoon Old Bay
Instructions
Wings
- Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel, then season each side with the Old Bay.
- Add 1-2 inches of oil to a large deep skillet, or fill a deep fryer to the minimum line. Heat the oil to 375F.
- Once it has reached temp, fry the chicken wings for 8-10 minutes until they are light brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and set aside on a baking tray lined with a cooling rack.
Glaze
- Add all of the glaze ingredients to a saucepan. Over medium-high heat, bring to a boil for 2 minutes, then remove from heat. (Be careful not to touch the glaze at this point – it is very hot coming off the stove and can burn!)
- Quickly place wings in a large mixing bowl and toss with the glaze.
- Serve and enjoy!
