Copycat Starbucks Iced Matcha Latte Recipe

This copycat recipe shows you how to make your own Starbucks Iced Matcha Latte at home with just three ingredients.

I love this drink sooooooo matcha!

Make Starbucks Matcha Iced Latte at home with this recipe.

Okay, that’s it for the matcha puns. I promise.

I’m a simple gal when it comes to my caffeine drinks and generally not a lover of crazy coffee drinks or over the top Starbucks creations.

However, I fell in love with this drink many years ago when I worked for a production company here in Los Angeles. I’ve never been able to shake my love for it.

These days I make it at home several times per week.

It’s super easy to make and all you need is milk (whichever kind you prefer), matcha powder, and vanilla syrup.

I make mine a little fancy by using this vanilla bean simple syrup. Starbucks uses this vanilla syrup.

This post contains affiliate links (when you buy we make a little money at no cost to you). See our disclosure for more information.

I personally prefer the caffeine buzz I get from matcha versus coffee. No jitters and I’m more focused. Some people even use it as a dietary aide because it suppresses your appetite.

To mix the green tea latte, I like to use my handheld milk frother. It is hands done one of my favorite kitchen tools that cost less than $10. I also used it to make my Lucky Charms Cereal Milk Latte.

If you don’t have one, mixing with a regular ol’ spoon works great.

Update: I’m adding a few tips and techniques that can help you make your matcha lump free!

How To Make Matcha Without Lumps

  • Sift your matcha powder with a food sifter
  • Whisk dry powder in your cup before adding any liquid
  • Use a matcha whisk
  • Use an Electric Whisk/Milk Frother
  • Whisk matcha powder with a little bit of warm or hot water to dissolve before adding any more liquid

If I use coconut milk, is it the kind in the dairy section, or the canned kind in the Asian Foods section?

You can use either, though I usually use the kind from the dairy section for lattes.

Beat matcha latte ever! I added two packets of stevia and used french vanilla creamer instead of syrup and it was really good. I was in the mood for something sweet, that explains all the stevia XD

Hey Makayla, did you mean sugar-free? That will work great in this recipe.

Omg! This recipe is so good, I had been adding warm water to my matcha first and trying to add the milk later and I was wondering what I was doing wrong. My matcha is the soar brand, I didn’t even add syrup, I added some Stevia and a little splash of vanilla extract! Thank you you much for the recipe!

I use coconut milk & a bit of coconut creamer. Oh so yummy & a lil sweetener. I need the frother! I always have lumps but must need to also use a sifter. However, thankfully even if I have lumps, there’s no bitter taste when chewing the gooey matcha. Still win win….

I use some hot water to disolve the matcha, Ive tried it the other way in the past, even used a ninja bullet, it just doesn’t really like being mixed in cold, I just use a little hot water to dissolve it, add the Ice and milk first, then the matcha and syrup, or just sugar and vanilla for when I can’t find the syrup

Everytime I make mine, I can’t get the matcha to fully unclump. I end up drinking little matcha clumps and it’s not very good. I make it like you said. I’ve used a frother and a spoon and still get the same result.

First let me say I’m not the suitor author of this recipe. But another person said she dissolved it in a lot but of hot water and that did the trick for the lumps, I hope it can help you as well. Happy New Year 🎉

The vanilla syrup is too noticeable and messed up the taste. Maybe that’s what my issue is. I also used whole milk. Help? Doesn’t taste like the drink. Although, I usually get it with cold cream foam.

I’m usually skeptical of copycats that claim to be exactly like the real thing, but this straight up tastes exactly like a Starbucks one, and might even be a little better. Gave me a much needed and absolutely delectable boost of energy. This is scrumptious and quick enough to make in just a couple of minutes. 10/10, definitely recommend.
