These simple and easy to make Peanut Butter Banana Yogurt Dog Treats are a great way for your pup to cool down! Budget-friendly and healthy for your dog.
Our poor little dog, Pearl, has to smell the wonderful things we cook all the time. It must be torture to have all those wonderful smells penetrating your nasal cavities knowing that you won’t get any.
Yes, life for Pearl is pretty tough. You should definitely feel bad for her.
Sometimes she even has to go on trips with us and stay at nice hotels, or ring in the New Year on the Queen Mary.
Like a good mom, I can’t talk about her without showing a baby photo. Just look at that lil’ face!
Because she’s such a good girl despite having it so rough, I thought she deserved some Cooking With Janica recipes too.
I like to keep dog treat recipes very simple. This is one of my favorites as it has only 3 ingredients.

How To Make Yogurt Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats:
Making them is pretty simple, you just throw all of the ingredients into a food processor and blend.
Then fill up a silicone mold (I use this one) or an ice cube tray and freeze for two hours.
How simple is that?!
Because these dog treats are frozen instead of baked, they are perfect for summertime. You don’t have to turn on the oven, and your pup gets a tasty treat that cools him/her down.
I hope your furry friend enjoys these treats as much as Pearl does!

I made this recipe for my 13 year old pit back in May, who was very sick with bladder cancer. Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe. It’s basically all he wanted aside from salmon. Unfortunately I lost my best friend but he enjoyed these frozen treats so much! With tears in my eyes tonight, 10/21/21, I made this for my two 13 week old puppies. I added pumpkin as well as I usually give them a little yogurt mixed with pumpkin anyway. Thanks again.

Sharon, I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved friend and family member. It sounds like you gave him a great life and I’m so happy to hear you are continuing some of the same traditions with your new pups! I’m glad they all enjoyed the treat recipe.
Jason says
Can I use vanilla yogurt?
Jessica Pinney says
Vanilla yogurt usually has added sugar. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Mars says
I just made mine today so excited it’s our doggies birthday in July. I made it with plain greek yogurt and Jif creamy peanut butter is it ok that the peanut butter has some sugar and salt in it?
Jessica Pinney says
Yes, that is fine. We have used Jif to make them and they turn out great. The main thing you want to avoid is any peanut butter with xylitol.
Lisa says
Have you used this recipe in a Kong?
Jessica Pinney says
I have not.
Barbara McCleary says
Jessica, do you have other recipes for dog treats? I love to cook and bake and we have 5 dogs in the house currently. 1 is a miniture chawawa, 1 Pit Bull, 1 16 year old black Lab,1 very big dog I don’t know what breed he is and we are currently dog sitting for my brother”s little girl she is a 16 year old terrier. The above recipe will be really nice as we live in Arizona and it is already in the 100″s.
Jessica Pinney says
Hi Barbara! I have two other recipes for dog treats: a pumpkin spice latte and a peanut butter macaron treat. I also have another one coming soon, so look out for that. Hope your dogs enjoy!
Misty Kane says
Girl! You sound like me. I have 6 dogs. 1 rescue husky (hard her 7yrs now), 2 Pitbulls (6yo), 3 “Littles. All are ****poo???? The Littles were inherited from my husband’s late parents. We live in Palm Desert CA. Was 118° here yesterday, 6/15/21. Stay cool Desert Neighbor!
Vanessa says
Thanks for sharing! How long do they keep?
Jessica Pinney says
That will largely depend on the age and expiration of your yogurt. I’ve kept them up to two week in my freezer with no issues.
Tracy says
I’ve made these twice for our dog Sophia….and she loves them!
Rebecca says
Just made these over in the UK during our ‘heatwave’ and they’re amazing. My cocker spaniel and his Labrador pal can’t get enough of them. Shame that most Brits don’t bother going to the effort of creating homemade pup treats – all the recipes I find are American.

I was led to believe that dogs are lactose intolerant, so how can they have normal yoghurt?
Jessica Pinney says
Vets often recommend yogurt as an addition to a dog’s diet because of the calcium, protein, and probiotics it contains. Some dogs can have a hard time digesting lactose. I’ve never had one with this issue. If your dog is sensitive to lactose, I would recommend using Greek yogurt, which contains less lactose.
Vanessa says
Thanks for sharing! Do they keep long in freezer?
Jessica Pinney says
You’re welcome, Vanessa. I have never had these last more than a few weeks in my freezer, because my dogs eat them all! I imagine they would be good for at least 4 weeks. It will probably depend on the expiration of your yogurt.

I added some coconut oil and omitted the honey. Love them. I have 4 German Shepherds so as many natural treats I can get is great.

Micah, my baby, he’s 65lbs, absolutely loved these! He even jumped up on the counter an licked the other tray almost dry! Bad dog! Anyway, I have the paws and firehydrant cookie cutter trays and while they’re cute and work great, beware, they’re not sturdy enough for liquid recipes.. The recipe slides all over the place. I had to put a cookie sheet underneath it to put it in the freezer. It was falling all over the tray and on the floor. I think these sheets are made for cookie treats! HOWEVER, HE LOVED THEM!??

My dog loves this. I also shared it with a couple of other dogs who loved it as well. My only wish is that perhaps it yielded a bit less (or I could just go out and buy more ice trays!). I have one small dog who’s weight I have to control, so I had to get creative in storing the excess.

where can i find those paw print molds? They are so cute!
★★★★★
Faith Lewman says
You can find the silicone paw print molds on Amazon ☺️ 10$ and under and different options
Vicki says
I found the cutest ones at Amazon. They are small to medium and there’s quite a approximately five trays per order, reasonably priced. We use them all the time, they are silicone and the treat pops out easily.

Excellent recipe..5 big dogs love them!,,
Heather Bateson says
Just want to share that I have two labs who are big chewers. I take about 10 large kongs, cover the small opening with plastic wrap and secure with rubber bands, put together in a dish with wide openings up, fill with the yogurt mixture and freeze. Takes my dogs about 20 minutes to empty a frozen kong. They LOVE these!!

Folrget the dogs! They are delicious! Only kidding. First I just made them in ice cube trays, but the puppy molds were so cute, I ordered the set. Thank you or the recipe.
Shanda says
So my dog got sick with these treats. Not once but twice and I only gave it to him twice. Would like to know if anyone else had this problem. My other dog had no problem with them.
Jessica Pinney says
If one of your dogs got sick but the other did not, we can probably rule out tainted ingredients being the issue. In all likelihood, the dog that got sick has an allergy or intolerance for one the ingredients in these treats.

This is a great recipe! Also thought it was funny I found this site my name is Janica too 😂😂

My senior dog has lost most of her teeth and those she has are very sensitive. Can this product be given without being frozen? Or is it a soft freeze?
Jessica Pinney says
Hi, Chris! I don’t think this is a good treat for a dog with few or sensitive teeth. Before freezing it is not solid, but I suppose you could spoon feed the mixture to your dog.
Jules says
How long are these good for if they’re frozen?
Grey says
my dog loves eating icecubes, so i’m sure he’s going to LOVE these
