Sweet, sour, and perfect for summer – the Midori Margarita is a fun, melon-flavored twist on the classic Mexican cocktail.

Midori is my top-choice of classic nightclub liqueurs to play around with. It’s so fun to use to make neon, fruity variations of some of the most classic and beloved cocktails.
Making a melon margarita with it is my favorite! It pairs surprisingly well with the usual lime and tequila combo, and it’s so sweet that it eliminates the need for simple syrup or agave.
Serve it on the rocks with some salt on the rim, or throw it in a blender with ice if you’re feeling frosty.
Ingredients
- Tequila – I like to use a blanco tequila so that this cocktail is extra smooth, but you can use any variety.
- Lime juice – I always recommend using fresh squeezed lime juice. Bottled contains preservatives that negatively alter the flavor.
- Midori – This Japanese melon liqueur is the star of this margarita.
- Salt – Use coarse salt to rim your glass, if desired.
Tips
- Use a tajín rim instead of salt or sugar – The chili-lime kick from tajín adds a spicy-sour edge that plays really well with the sweet melon flavor of Midori.
- Try it with mezcal – For a smokier, more adventurous flavor, swap tequila for mezcal. It turns your sweet melon marg into a campfire-meets-candy vibe.
