A two ingredient layered shot that combines Irish cream with raspberry liqueur to make a delicious after dinner shooter.

A shot glass is filled with two distinct layers - a crimson red on the bottom, and a creamy beige liqueur on top.

Nothing impresses happy hour guests more than a layered shot!

Previously, I’ve shared some of my favorites like the pineapple upside down cake shot and the decadent triple-layer snickers shot.

My newest obsession is this jam donut shot that combines a sweet raspberry liqueur with smooth and velvety Irish cream.

When both flavors hit your tastebuds, the result is a dessert shot that tastes similar to a jelly-filled donut. Delightful!

Ingredients

A bottle of Chambord and a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream on a black background.
  • Irish Cream – Bailey’s is most commonly used, though I recently discovered Five Farms small batch Irish cream and it is now my go-to.
  • Chambord – This raspberry flavored liqueur is the classic choice for the jam donut shot. If you substitute another fruit liqueur, you may have to change the order of the layers – depending on the density.

How To Make

Irish cream being slowly poured over the back of a metal spoon that's positioned just above a layer of Chambord in a shot glass.
  1. Add Chambord to the bottom of a shot glass.
  2. Slowly pour Irish cream over the back of a bar spoon that is situated right at the surface of the Chambord.

Tips

  1. Chill alcohol bottles ahead of time for a smoother tasting shot.
  2. To easily pour for layering, use one of these OXO mini beakers.
  3. If you swap out any of the ingredients, you may need to reorder the layers. The most dense alcohol is whichever has the highest sugar content and it will be the bottom layer.
A shot glass filled with a layer of raspberry liqueur and a top layer of Irish cream is in focus in the foreground. Another is out of focus in the background next to a jelly donut.

Variations

  • Use Rumchata instead of Baileys
  • Swap strawberry or blackberry liqueur for Chambord
  • Drizzle of strawberry or chocolate syrup inside the shot glass
  • Dip the rim of the shot glass in simple syrup, then sugar
  • Top with whipped cream

If you’re a fan of these, I highly recommend trying other dessert shots like the rich and chocolatey nutella shot, creamy oatmeal cookie shots, or the infamous cinnamon toast crunch shot.
